Why Your Body Deserves an Annual Health MOT

education blog

I was booking my car in for its MOT recently and it got me thinking.

Every year, without really questioning it, most of us spend money maintaining our cars. We service them, replace worn tyres, investigate strange noises, and fix small problems before they become bigger ones. We understand that looking after something regularly is usually easier, less stressful, and often less expensive than waiting until it breaks down completely.

Yet when it comes to our own health, many of us take a very different approach.

We ignore the warning lights.

We put tiredness down to getting older. We tell ourselves stress is normal. We accept poor sleep, digestive issues, headaches, low mood, hormone changes, and a general feeling of being “not quite right” as part of modern life. We keep going because there are jobs to do, people to look after, and responsibilities that don’t simply disappear because we’re running on empty.

The reality is that most people don’t seek support when the body first starts whispering. They seek support when the whisper becomes impossible to ignore.

At Inna Health, one of the most common things we hear is:

“I’ve not felt like myself for years.”

Rarely is there a single moment when everything changes. More often, the body has been adapting for a long time. A difficult period at work. A stressful relationship. Poor sleep. Hormonal changes. Nutritional deficiencies. A period of illness. Years of putting everyone else first.

The body is incredibly intelligent and remarkably resilient. It will do everything it can to keep us functioning, often compensating for months or years before symptoms become obvious. What we experience as a sudden problem is often the point at which the body has simply run out of room to compensate.

At its heart, preventative health is simply about staying connected to your body. It’s about pausing every now and then to ask, “How am I really doing?” and listening to the quieter signals the body often gives long before it starts shouting.

Rather than waiting for symptoms to force our attention, there is value in noticing the small changes. The energy that’s not quite what it was. The sleep that isn’t as restorative. The digestion that feels a little off. The feeling that something isn’t quite right, even if you can’t put your finger on it.

The body is always communicating. Preventative health is simply choosing to listen.

This doesn’t mean becoming obsessed with your health or constantly searching for problems. In fact, we believe the opposite. Good health should create more freedom, not more worry.

What it does mean is making the occasional space to check in, take stock, and gain a clearer understanding of how your body is coping with the demands being placed upon it.

This is one of the reasons we use tools such as bioresonance testing at Inna Health. Not because we’re looking for something to be wrong, but because we want to understand where the body may be working harder than it needs to.

How are your energy reserves?

How well are you recovering?

Is your nervous system spending most of its time in a state of stress?

Are your hormones receiving the support they need?

Is digestion functioning as well as it could?

These questions are often far more useful than simply asking whether somebody is sick or well.

Many of the people we work with aren’t looking for a diagnosis. They’re looking to understand why they don’t quite feel like themselves anymore. They’re looking for clarity, reassurance, direction, and practical steps that help them move forwards.

The funny thing is that nobody sees an MOT as evidence that their car is failing. It’s simply part of looking after something valuable.

Perhaps it’s time we started viewing our health in the same way.

Not from a place of fear.

Not because we’re expecting something to be wrong.

But because the body that carries us through life deserves the same care, attention, and maintenance that we happily give to almost everything else we own.

After all, your car only needs to last a few years.

Your body needs to last a lifetime.
