The sun hasn’t changed… but its position has.
And right now in the UK, it’s finally high enough for UVB to reach us again, typically around the middle of the day, roughly between 11am and 3pm.

This means your body can start making vitamin D properly after months where it simply couldn’t, no matter how long you were outside. And that changes more than most people realise.
Throughout winter, the sun sits too low in the UK sky for UVB to do its job. You can be out walking, getting fresh air, doing all the “right things”… and still not be producing or storing vitamin D.
But now it can!
Vitamin D Is Not Just a Vitamin – We still call it vitamin D, but in reality, it behaves much more like a hormone.
Once it’s produced in the skin, it influences a wide range of systems from immune function and inflammation, to mood, metabolism, and how the body handles minerals like calcium.
It’s not just supportive. It’s instructive.
It tells the body what to do, when to do it, and how strongly to respond.
